Chapter 1

Maryland

____________________

Each chapter begins with a place...

This one begins with my parent’s home, and in particular, my mother’s garden.

For this collection, I chose a single, deliberate constraint: to never step beyond its borders. Every photograph, every sketch, every recording was made within this small patch of Maryland.

What started as a limitation has become liberation. By returning to the same places each day, I am slowly discovering that nothing is ever truly the same. A fading blossom, the humming of bees in hydrangeas, light streaming in through a window…

The FLÂNEUR does not need to travel far to find beauty. Only to learn how to not simply look, but really see.

Return for future observations as this chapter continues to unfold.

Welcome to Maryland
